Great first experience / Kathryn, CO5/14/2008 Never owned a laptop before and love this one. Priced right and Gateway is a good company. I have only used mine plugged in so battery life hasn''t been an issue, but I have been told they dont last long anyway. Only disappointment is the HD screen doesn''t seem HD to me, not as crisp as it should be, and the DVD player won''t play HD DVD''s.
Great Buy / Gaile, NJ5/14/2008 Got my laptop two weeks ago and I am really pleased. It is what I expected and more. All the features work well and I learn something new about the system everyday. This is my second Gateway and so far Gateway has got it goning on. Thanks HSN and Gateway Joe.
Would be 5 Stars if the battery life was longer!!! / kerri, PA5/8/2008 Last month I bought a 1721 Dell Notebook from QVC. I had to send it back --the DVD/CD player was defective. Anyway, for 1/2 the price I decided to go with this Gateway. I was leary b/c I really didn''t get great reviews about the Gateway name. However, since this is my first laptop, I''M learning alot as i go. I was very happy to see the 4.6 star rating on this product. After reading the reviews, I have some comments. The fan definately DOES NOT all the time. The fan on mine runs a very minimal amount of the time, only when i am running 3 or 4 things at time will it turn on. Second, my notebook DOES NOT get very hot. What they said on TV about the fan being on the side of the machine is true. Keeps it very cool. I guess I lucked out, this has turned out to be a great investment. The flex payments are awesome. I definately wish the battery life was a least 3 hours.
That is my only complaint.
GOOD LAPTOP, NOT GREAT / Bill, NJ5/7/2008 I like my laptop, Vista seems to be work well on it. I don''t like that some of the things they said on tv about it are not true. I gets very hot, thay said it doesn''t, but it does. You will eventually have to upgrade the RAM in it at least a nother GB or three. Other tha that I am very happy with it.

I BOUGHT 2, ONE FOR MY SON FOR HIS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION GIFT FIGURE IT WOULD BE A GREAT INVESTMENT AND ALSO WANTED MY FIRST LAPTOP FOR MY SELF TO RUN MY SMALL BUISSNESS FROM. WHAT A GREAT BUY!! THE SCREEN IS AWSOME AND EASY TO USE JUST PLUG AND PLAY. LOVE THAT GATE WAY STILL HAS US CUSTOMER SERVICE TOO. LOTS OF PRODUCT TO USE BUT I WOULD HAVE LIKED MORE SPACE FOR GB.THE ONLY REAL PROBLEM IS BATTERY LIFE TO SHORT.
